Income protection message hits home with new Partners Life campaign

While we're all familiar with insuring our homes, cars, and possessions, the concept of safeguarding our incomes seems to slip through the cracks. That’s why Partners Life has launched a pivotal advertising campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of income protection insurance. This campaign seeks to shed light on the potentially devastating consequences of being unprotected in the face of illness or injury.

According to the Financial Services Council's 2022 report, “Money and You: Taking Cover,” 8 out of 10 New Zealanders are navigating life without income insurance to protect against the financial impacts of sickness or disability.

That’s why Partners Life has launched a pivotal advertising campaign aimed at highlighting the importance of income protection insurance. This campaign seeks to shed light on the potentially devastating consequences of being unprotected in the face of illness or injury.

You can think of income protection insurance as a safety net, designed to catch you if illness or injury prevents you from earning a living. It provides a monthly financial cushion to help you cover essential expenses like your mortgage, bills, groceries, and childcare. Find out more about the different types of insurance.

The stark reality presented in the Financial Services Council report is alarming: 80% of Kiwis would find it challenging to support their families if struck by a serious injury leading to permanent disability. Similarly, facing a critical illness could leave 80% of New Zealand families in a precarious financial situation, unable to earn a living or care for their loved ones.

Our daily lives are filled with financial obligations—from mortgages and bills to groceries and fuel. An income helps us manage these expenses, but an unforeseen illness or injury could abruptly put a stop to this. While some may believe ACC covers all injury-related costs, it doesn’t extend to illnesses such as cancer or heart disease, leaving a significant gap in protection.

The Partners Life income protection campaign underscores a critical message with a touch of humour—without income protection, the financial stability of your household is at risk, potentially leading to significant losses, including your home. The goal of this campaign is not only to engage but also to inspire more New Zealanders to prioritise income protection in 2024.

Choosing the right income protection cover is a step towards creating a brighter future for yourself and your family, even in the face of health challenges. If you’re not sure what income cover provides or you want to make sure you’ve got the right income protection sorted, get in touch with our team of friendly financial advisers today!
